We are currently seeking a Purchasing Agent to assist operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment that services the aerospace and defense industry. The ideal candidate has experience working in a manufacturing environment and has familiarity with:
- Material procurement with a focus in metals and CNC tooling
- Outside process operations such as heat treating, surface finishing, and non-destructive testing
The Purchasing Agent will represent the company in matters regarding vendor relations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must. Necessary computer skills include an understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word. Experience with ERP systems is a plus. Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 concepts and the ability to read blueprints is preferred but not required. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Generates and processes RFQs and PO’s for both materials/supplies and outside process work.
- Monitors and expedites orders and assists Receiving Department as needed.
- Audits vendor invoices and authorizes payment for purchases.
- Maintains a record of RFQs for future reference and cost analysis.
- Participates in daily production meetings to coordinate efforts and ensure timely procurement of materials and outside processes.
Education: High school or equivalent
Experience: 2-3 years
